@edgeorhype · we test the claims

Trading claims,
tested.

Someone online says a strategy beats the market. We turn the claim into exact rules, run it on real market history, and compare it with simply holding the S&P 500. Then we say which it is.

“This one moving-average rule beats the market.”

A popular trading video says this works. We tested it.

The lab so far

41 claims in. Here’s how they held up.

14EDGE

beat holding the S&P 500 after costs, with solid evidence

15HYPE

did not, once costs and a fair comparison were counted

10NO TRADES

the rules never produced a single trade in the test

2TOO VAGUE

could not be turned into exact, testable rules

From our test records, October 21, 2026. Counts change as new claims come in and old ones are re-run on the current test engine.

Method

How a claim gets its verdict.

  1. 01

    Pin down the claim

We restate what the video says in plain words. We never name, show or link the person who made it.

  2. 02

    Write exact rules

When to get in, when to get out, which stocks and funds, and over which dates. No room for “you had to be there”.

  3. 03

    Run it on real history

Every trade the rules would have made, at the next day’s real prices, with trading costs taken off.

  4. 04

    Compare it fairly

Against simply holding the S&P 500 over the same dates, with the same share of money at work. A strategy that sits in cash most of the time is compared with a matching slice of the index.

EDGE only when the evidence is strong or moderate and the rules beat the S&P 500 after costs over the same dates.

HYPE everything else, including results that look great until the costs and the comparison are counted.
